Abdessamad Ezzalzouli made a successful return to competition with Real Betis. Starting on Monday night against Villarreal for the 5th round of La Liga, the Moroccan international was directly involved in the equalizer for the Verdiblancos, who ultimately won 2-1 at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Absent from recent matches due to physical issues, Abde reclaimed a starting position in Manuel Pellegrini’s lineup. The Moroccan quickly showed his danger and was at the heart of the action that allowed Betis to get back into the match.
After Villarreal opened the scoring through Gerard Moreno in the 29th minute, Abde made a difference ten minutes later. After advancing into the box from the left side, the Moroccan winger unleashed a low shot that was parried by Péter Gulácsi. Cucho Hernández perfectly followed up to seize the ball and score the equalizer at 1-1 in the 39th minute.
Betis then completely turned the situation around before halftime. In the 43rd minute, Natan scored the visitors’ second goal, allowing Manuel Pellegrini’s men to head into the locker room with the lead. The Andalusians then held on in the second half to maintain their 2-1 victory and secure three more points.
Abde among the best for Betis
For his return, Abde delivered a particularly noteworthy performance. Frequently involved on his side and regularly sought out by his teammates, the Lion of the Atlas was one of Betis’s main offensive threats before being substituted for Antony in the 66th minute.
His performance was notably praised by the Seville press. Muchodeporte awarded him the highest rating on the team with a score of 9/10, stating that he was decisive and the primary offensive option for Betis during his time on the pitch.
Thus, a successful comeback for Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, who immediately regains an important role in Manuel Pellegrini’s setup.
