Far from the pitch, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli “Abde” is using the off-season to develop another aspect of his game: communication. The Moroccan international winger of Real Betis has started English classes with Sara Duque, a renowned language teacher who works with many top-level footballers.
In a video posted on social media, Abde explains the reasons that led him to learn this language, which has become essential in modern football. “I think it’s a universal language. No matter where you come from, English allows you to communicate with everyone,” explains the Atlas Lion, adding: “I see this as an opportunity to continue growing, both personally and professionally. It helps me build connections with different people, with my teammates, both on and off the pitch. I am an ambitious player and I love challenges.” (El Desmarque)
Sara Duque’s post quickly sparked numerous reactions, with some seeing it as a hint of a possible move to the Premier League. However, the trainer sought to calm speculation by reminding everyone that English is now indispensable for all players competing at the highest level. Between European competitions, national team gatherings, summer tours, and interactions with coaches or teammates of different nationalities, this language has become a true working tool. For Abde Ezzalzouli, this initiative is primarily driven by a desire to continue his progression. After a remarkable season with Betis, the Moroccan aims to keep developing, both in sports and personally, to be ready to seize opportunities that arise throughout his career. (El Desmarque)
