KRC Genk seems to be concretely preparing for a possible departure of Zakaria El Ouahdi. The Belgian club is reportedly on the verge of signing Kevin Amaro, a right-back from Liverpool Montevideo, to strengthen a position currently held by the Moroccan international.
According to information from Het Belang van Limburg, an agreement has been reached regarding a fee exceeding three million euros, with around 500,000 euros in bonuses. The 22-year-old Amaro is expected in Belgium early next week to undergo his medical examination and finalize his transfer. The Uruguayan defender was recently set to join River Plate, but the Argentine club was unable to meet the financial demands of Liverpool Montevideo.
This arrival would signal an important development regarding El Ouahdi’s future. Genk is no longer just exploring different profiles and is now moving forward with the recruitment of a player in the same position. However, his departure is not yet confirmed: the Limburg club remains willing to keep him if no offer that meets their expectations is made.
AC Milan is among the clubs interested in the Atlas Lion, whose value is currently estimated between 13 and 15 million euros. No official offers or agreements have been announced yet, but the imminent arrival of Kevin Amaro could facilitate a transfer of El Ouahdi before the summer transfer window closes.
