Yassir Zabiri does not intend to stop on such a good path. After scoring a decisive double in Racing Santander’s victory against Deportivo Alavés (2-1) on Saturday in La Liga, the Moroccan forward quickly turned his attention to his team’s next challenge: FC Barcelona.
“I am very happy with these three points and I thank the supporters as well as everyone present here. Now, we must think about the match against Barcelona,” Zabiri said after the match.
This statement reflects the ambition of the young Moroccan, who has made a particularly notable start to the season in Spain. Before this fifth matchday, he already had three goals, all scored during his hat-trick against Elche. His double against Alavés brings his total to five goals in five La Liga matches. The official Racing website had already presented Zabiri as their top scorer before Saturday’s match.
José Alberto did not fail to highlight the contribution of his forward. The Racing coach particularly appreciates his finishing quality, off-the-ball movements, and ability to combine with his teammates, while believing that the Moroccan still has significant room for improvement.
Already nominated among the candidates for the U23 La Liga Player of the Month award for August, Zabiri confirms week after week his excellent adaptation to the highest level of Spanish football. The upcoming match against FC Barcelona will now represent a new significant test for the Moroccan international, who will arrive with maximum confidence.
