Yassir Zabiri continues to impress in Spain. The Moroccan forward scored a brace this Saturday during Racing Santander’s victory over Deportivo Alavés (2-1) in the 5th round of La Liga. These two goals allowed his team to turn around a match that had started poorly.
Trailing from the 18th minute after Alavés opened the scoring, Racing found the solution thanks to their Moroccan international. In the 38th minute, Zabiri perfectly capitalized on a pass from Íñigo Vicente to equalize before halftime. This was his fourth goal of the season in the league.
Upon returning from the break, the Moroccan struck again. In the 53rd minute, Zabiri scored his second goal of the match to give Racing Santander the lead for good. Despite a tense finish and the expulsion of Andrés Almeida in the 89th minute, the Cantabrian club held on to their advantage until the final whistle.
This new brace confirms the excellent start to the season for the 21-year-old player. At the end of August, he had already scored a hat-trick against Elche (3-2) in his first start in La Liga. With his two goals against Alavés, Zabiri now has a total of five goals in the league and continues to establish himself as one of the main offensive weapons for Racing Santander.
