After officially joining Racing Santander, Yassir Zabiri addressed the media and provided an honest analysis of his journey. The 20-year-old Moroccan forward, who previously played for Famalicão and Stade Rennais, believes that the Spanish league offers a style of play that aligns more closely with his qualities.
When asked about his adaptation, Zabiri did not hide his preference for the football played in Spain and Portugal. “In Portugal, football is very similar to the collective style of Spanish football. In France, the style is different, with more duels and one-on-one situations. I prefer a more collective football, and I think La Liga suits my profile better,” he explained during his official presentation.
The Moroccan international also reflected on his time at Rennes, where he struggled to establish himself after arriving from Famalicão. Without making excuses, he acknowledged that the context did not facilitate his integration, citing strong competition and a change of coach. Now, his goal is clear: to find continuity and reach a new level with Racing Santander.
The young forward has great ambitions for his first season in Spain. “My goal is to score ten goals this season,” he stated with determination, while emphasizing that his priority remains to help the team achieve its collective objectives.
Zabiri also explained that the project presented by Racing Santander played a crucial role in his decision.
