The transfer of Tawfik Bentayeb to Schalke 04 now seems compromised. The German club, which had shown interest in the Moroccan forward, reportedly saw its offer rejected by Union Touarga, the owner of the player currently on loan in the French second division.
According to journalist André Oechsner, Schalke 04 had submitted a proposal estimated at 5 million euros to try to secure Bentayeb’s services. An offer that did not convince Union Touarga. The Gelsenkirchen club has since decided not to return with a new proposal, thus ending, barring any turnaround, this avenue.
The blockage is primarily financial. Union Touarga initially demanded an amount close to 6 million euros, before raising its demands during discussions. This development complicated negotiations and cooled Schalke 04’s interest, which did not want to exceed its initial offer.
The role of the player’s entourage is also mentioned in the German press, although no official element confirms that they directly blocked the operation. In such cases, several factors can weigh in: the price demanded by the selling club, contractual conditions, the proposed sporting project, as well as the existence of other interests in the market.
