Souffian El Karouani could already leave Al-Qadsiah without having played a single minute in the Saudi Pro League. According to the Saudi daily Arriyadiyah, the club’s management is leaning towards accepting the offer made by Benfica for the Moroccan full-back.
Negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly now in an official phase and could conclude in the coming days. This openness to a departure is particularly explained by the sporting situation of the 25-year-old player, who no longer seems to be part of Al-Qadsiah’s technical choices for this season.
Arriving for free this summer after the end of his contract with FC Utrecht, El Karouani had committed until June 2029. The Moroccan has not participated in any league matches under his new colors, a particularly surprising situation just weeks after his recruitment.
An agreement with Benfica would allow El Karouani to immediately return to European football after this very brief stint in Saudi Arabia. However, the transfer has not yet been finalized, and the amount proposed by the Portuguese club has not been disclosed.
