Manuel Pellegrini has clearly defined his priority for the end of the transfer window. The Real Betis coach wants to recruit a midfielder capable of ensuring balance in front of the defense and does not hide his interest in a return for Sofyan Amrabat, who was loaned to the Seville club last season by Fenerbahçe.
“We undoubtedly need a defensive midfielder, and this is currently a priority,” said the Chilean coach. Pellegrini is specifically looking for a “positional” player, capable of staying in front of the defense, while his squad already includes several midfielders who are more attack-oriented. When directly asked about Amrabat, he expressed particular favor for this possibility: “For a coach, it is always preferable to have a player who has already been here and knows our dynamics. It would be an important step forward for us.”
The profile of the Moroccan international is thus at the top of Pellegrini’s priorities. His experience, defensive impact, and knowledge of the verdiblanco system work in his favor. Amrabat would also like to return to Seville, where his time convinced the coach despite several physical setbacks.
The main obstacle remains financial. Betis still needs to free up salary space, but Fenerbahçe is reportedly starting to seriously consider a new loan. The Turkish club could then cover part of his salary, as they did last season, to facilitate the operation. No agreement has been reached yet, but this arrangement now keeps alive the hope of the Lion of the Atlas returning in the final days of the transfer window.
