On matchday 19 of Ligue 1, Lille was defeated by Strasbourg at the Stade de la Meinau (2-1). A surprising setback for LOSC, who had the opportunity to overtake AS Monaco and take third place in the standings.

Lille started the match perfectly by taking the lead in the 8th minute. Thanks to an effective press by Bayo, the ball was recovered in the final third, allowing Osame Sahraoui to score with a precise shot into the near corner. This goal was Sahraoui’s first in Ligue 1, after already providing three assists this season.

However, in the second half, Lille lost control of the game. Strasbourg, much more assertive, equalized in the 70th minute, rewarding their efforts. Then, in the 74th minute, after a high recovery and a well-executed team play, Emegha scored the winning goal with an unstoppable header, validated by the VAR.

The two Moroccan internationals, Osame Sahraoui and Ayyoub Bouaddi, were starters for Lille but were substituted towards the end of the match (81st and 86th minutes). Despite Sahraoui’s first goal in Ligue 1, the defeat was a bitter one for the Dogues, who missed a great opportunity to climb in the standings.
