Safouane Benzahra’s journey at AS Monaco is set to take a new step. At 18 years old, the young Dutch-Moroccan attacking midfielder is expected to sign his first professional contract with the club in the Principality, according to information published this Thursday by L’Équipe.
Arriving in Monaco in the summer of 2025 from NAC Breda, Benzahra had signed a three-season trainee contract. He came off a particularly prolific season in the Netherlands, scoring 17 goals in 14 matches with the U17 team. In his first season on the Rock, he continued his development with the Monaco U19s, totaling eight goals and four assists in 18 matches.
This season, the young Moroccan has begun to carve out a place for himself in Filipe Luís’s professional squad. He has already made three official appearances with the first team, including two in the Conference League and one in Ligue 1. Notably, he came on at the Parc des Princes against Paris Saint-Germain, replacing Alexandre Golovin in the final minutes of Monaco’s 2-1 victory.
The new contract is expected to cover three seasons, as Monaco aims to secure several young talents from its Academy. However, the club has not yet made an official announcement, which is why the signing is currently described as imminent.
