Mohamed Ouahbi is clearly counting on Ismaël Saibari. Suspended for the first match of the Atlas Lions against Gabon, the Moroccan attacking midfielder is nonetheless included in the list selected by the coach for the September gathering.
Present at a press conference this Thursday to present his squad, Ouahbi explained that Saibari’s suspension did not affect his call-up. The player remains important in his plans, particularly due to his versatility and ability to bring balance to the team.
The coach also provided an interesting indication about the role he could assign to the Moroccan. Saibari is indeed considered an option for both the number 9 and number 10 positions, two roles that would allow Ouahbi to utilize him higher up the pitch.
Absent against Gabon on September 25 due to his suspension, Saibari will then be able to return to competition with the Atlas Lions, particularly against Lesotho on September 29. His presence in the squad shows that the staff intends to continue to exploit his versatile profile in their offensive play.
