The sanction for Samir El Mourabet is now known. The disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) has imposed a two-match suspension on the Moroccan international midfielder, who was sent off during Strasbourg’s defeat to Olympique de Marseille (4-0).
The Strasbourg player received a red card in the 59th minute for a challenge on Pierre-Émile Højbjerg. After a VAR intervention, the referee deemed that his action warranted a dismissal. The Refereeing Department of the FFF subsequently upheld this decision, considering the action consistent with the classification of an act of brutality as outlined in the Laws of the Game.
Samir El Mourabet will therefore miss the next two matches for Strasbourg. He will be absent against Lens on Saturday, August 29, and during the trip to Troyes scheduled for September 6.
