After several months of absence, Nayef Aguerd has made his return to training with Olympique de Marseille. The Moroccan international defender has returned to the fields of La Commanderie, marking an important step in his recovery process.
The 30-year-old player had been sidelined from competition since March 4, during the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France against Toulouse. Troubled for several months by a persistent groin injury, Aguerd had to undergo surgery in March.
Despite his initial inclusion in the Moroccan squad for the 2026 World Cup, the former Stade Rennais defender ultimately withdrew before the start of the competition. His physical condition did not allow him to fully defend his chances with the Atlas Lions.
His return to training is therefore excellent news for OM, which will need to manage his recovery with caution. Aguerd will now need to gradually regain his physical condition before he can consider a return to competition and, ultimately, rejoining the Moroccan national team.
