The Stade Rennais has not given up on the idea of bringing back Nayef Aguerd. According to information from Santi Aouna (Foot Mercato), the Breton club has tried to explore the possibility of signing the Moroccan central defender, but several obstacles make the operation difficult to realize.
The main hurdle concerns the release clause of the Atlas Lion. It is set at 15 million euros, an amount that must be paid in one go. This clause is only valid until July 31, leaving very little time for interested clubs to act.
Beyond the financial aspect, other factors complicate a potential return for the former captain of the Rennes defense. The total cost of the operation, which notably includes the player’s salary, represents a significant investment for Rennes, which must also deal with its budgetary constraints.
Despite these difficulties, Rennes’ interest reflects the excellent reputation Nayef Aguerd left in Brittany. Arriving at the club in 2020, the Moroccan international quickly established himself as one of the best defenders in Ligue 1 before his transfer to West Ham, and then his return to France under the colors of Olympique de Marseille. At this stage, a return to Roazhon Park remains far from certain and would require a real turnaround in the coming hours.
