Mohamed Ouahbi does not want to see his players fall into the trap of complacency. On the eve of the Round of 16 match in the 2026 World Cup against Canada, the national coach emphasized the quality of the opponent awaiting the Atlas Lions.
For the Moroccan coach, the Canada of 2026 remains a formidable team, different from the one faced during the 2022 World Cup, but still capable of causing significant problems. “The Canada of today has as much quality as that of 2022. The players present at that time even told me it was the most difficult match of the group stage, ahead of Croatia and Belgium,” Ouahbi recalled.
The Moroccan coach believes that this Canadian team has evolved in its style of play. More compact, more composed in their build-up, they maintain a high intensity and a very competitive mentality. Supported by their home crowd, the host nation will undoubtedly have extra motivation against Morocco.
