Hamburger SV officially announced the arrival of Bilal Nadir on Friday. The 22-year-old Moroccan midfielder, who was a free agent after the end of his contract with Olympique de Marseille, has signed a long-term deal with the recently promoted Bundesliga club. After passing his medical examination, he joined HSV’s training camp in Austria, where he signed his contract. He will wear the number 4.
The Hamburg management expressed particular enthusiasm about welcoming the Moroccan international. Sporting director Kathleen Krüger highlighted Bilal Nadir’s versatility, as he is capable of playing in several positions in midfield. According to her, his profile adds more flexibility to the squad while perfectly fitting into the club’s playing philosophy and values.
Sporting director Claus Costa also emphasized the player’s technical qualities. He believes that Nadir has excellent ball control, great intelligence in his movements, and the ability to change the pace of a match thanks to his vision of the game. He also stressed Nadir’s defensive commitment and maturity, despite his young age, stating that the Moroccan is ready to take the next step in his career.
Trained at OGC Nice, Bilal Nadir joined Olympique de Marseille in 2021. Integrated into the professional group in 2023, he played 53 official matches in Marseille colors, scoring two goals and providing five assists. He also made his European debut with four appearances in the Champions League and two in the Europa League.
Called up for the first time with the Atlas Lions in March 2025 for matches against Niger and Tanzania, Bilal Nadir is still awaiting his official debut with the Moroccan national team. Upon his arrival in Hamburg, the midfielder did not hide his satisfaction: he expressed that he is very happy to join HSV and eager to meet the supporters and represent the club in the Bundesliga.
