Yassir Zabiri continues his excellent start to the season in Spain. The Moroccan forward of Racing de Santander has officially been elected the best U23 player of La Liga for the month of September, LaLiga announced on Wednesday, September 30.
With three additional goals during the month, Zabiri has brought his total to six goals since the beginning of the 2026-2027 season. This efficiency allows him to establish himself as one of the revelations of this start of the championship wearing the colors of Racing.
The Moroccan international notably shone against Deportivo Alavés, scoring a brace in his team’s 2-1 victory at El Sardinero. In the following match, he also found the back of the net and provided an assist against FC Barcelona, despite Racing’s heavy defeat (7-2).
To win this award, Zabiri surpassed Pau Cubarsí (FC Barcelona), Alberto Moleiro (Villarreal), Miguel Sierra (Sevilla FC), and Yoel Lago (Celta Vigo). He wins this trophy for the first time in his career, after already being among the candidates for the best U23 title in August. The Moroccan succeeds Javi Hernández of Espanyol, who was honored the previous month.
