Espanyol continues to work on the arrival of Ilias Akhomach. Without directly naming the Moroccan international, Monchi confirmed this Wednesday that the Catalan club is still awaiting two clearly identified reinforcements to complete its squad before the transfer window closes.
“We have been waiting for certain players all summer. These are two very targeted players,” said the sporting director of Espanyol. The executive prefers to wait a few more days to try to finalize these deals, conducted in agreement with the technical staff, rather than immediately resorting to other options.
According to AS, Ilias Akhomach is among the two profiles mentioned by Monchi. Espanyol particularly wants to strengthen its attacking sector and sees the Villarreal winger as an option likely to bring more dynamism to the flanks.
Monchi believes that the squad is currently complete at “85%” and anticipates two or three more arrivals. Interest in Akhomach is therefore becoming clearer, but no definitive progress has been announced. The Moroccan remains under contract with Villarreal, while several clubs have inquired about his situation.
