Achraf Hakimi wore the captain’s armband for Paris Saint-Germain this Sunday during their defeat to RC Lens (1-0) in the Trophée des Champions final. Starting on the right flank, the Moroccan international played the entire match, which was decided by a goal from Florian Thauvin in the 32nd minute.
With Marquinhos on the bench, Luis Enrique entrusted the captaincy to the Lion of the Atlas, further confirming his importance in the Parisian hierarchy. Hakimi was particularly active in ball circulation, completing 82 of his 89 passes, achieving an accuracy rate of 92%.
The Moroccan full-back also sought to create danger on his side. In the 83rd minute, one of his cross attempts nearly found Fabian Ruiz at the far post, but Ruben Aguilar intervened to clear the ball. Despite the expulsion of Kyllian Antonio in the 39th minute, PSG was never able to equalize against a well-organized Lens team.
Hakimi received a yellow card in the 90th minute in a tense finish marked by Parisian nervousness and the expulsion of Nuno Mendes. While PSG misses out on their first trophy of the season, the decision to give the armband to the Moroccan once again confirms his status as a key player within the capital club.
