During the 22nd matchday of Ligue 1, RC Strasbourg achieved a significant result by holding Olympique de Marseille to a draw at the Stade Vélodrome. In an intense match filled with twists and turns, young Yassine Gessime emerged as one of the key players of the evening. Coming on as a substitute, he played a crucial role in securing a valuable point away from home, ensuring his team did not leave empty-handed from a challenging fixture.

Introduced into the game in the 64th minute while Strasbourg was trailing 2-0, Gessime immediately energized the attack. From the moment he stepped onto the pitch, Gessime launched multiple assaults. In the 66th minute, he created his first clear opportunity: Yassine Gessime took a shot from inside the box, but sent the ball just over the crossbar. Undeterred, he continued to pose a threat. After Sebastian Nanasi reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute, Gessime nearly turned into a decisive playmaker in the 76th minute. With a pinpoint pass, he set up a golden opportunity for the Swede in the penalty area, but Nanasi’s shot went over the bar, denying the striker an immediate brace.

The turning point of the match came during stoppage time. Just when defeat seemed inevitable for the Alsatians, Gessime earned a crucial penalty with a sharp incursion into the opposing box. This foul allowed his team to equalize and seal the final score at 2-2. However, this heroic outcome came at a significant physical cost; after being instrumental in the comeback, the player was forced to leave the pitch due to injury just before the final whistle, leaving his supporters torn between the joy of the result and concern for his health.

In the standings, this draw allows Olympique de Marseille to maintain its 4th place (40 points), while Strasbourg temporarily rises to 7th place with 31 points, awaiting the results of Toulouse (30 pts) and Angers (29 pts). In addition to Gessime, this match was marked by a strong Moroccan presence, notably Samir El Mourabit who also represented Strasbourg, while Nayef Aguerd and Bilal Nadir were lined up for OM.
