Eddahchouri scores quickly, Deportivo overturns Villarreal

Zakaria Eddahchouri played a crucial role in Deportivo La Corogne’s spectacular victory over Villarreal (2-3) on Saturday during the fourth round of La Liga. Coming on as a substitute in the 77th minute, the Moroccan forward needed just two minutes to find the back of the net.

Substituted in for Luismi Cruz while his team was trailing 2-1, Eddahchouri took advantage of a pass from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to unleash a powerful shot at the near post. His strike surprised Luiz Júnior and allowed Deportivo to equalize in the 79th minute.

Nicolas Pépé had opened the scoring for Villarreal in the 19th minute before Luismi Cruz equalized just before halftime. An own goal by Adama Traoré then restored the lead for the hosts in the 76th minute. Eddahchouri immediately brought both teams level again, and then Aubameyang secured the victory for the Galician club in the 88th minute.

Having remained on the bench during the previous two matchdays, Eddahchouri seized the opportunity presented to him perfectly. This first goal in La Liga could allow him to gain more playing time in a Deportivo side that remains unbeaten after four matches.
