Driouech reassures and explains his aborted transfer to Rangers

Officially presented this Monday at the Abanca Balaídos, Couhaib Driouech sought to dispel concerns regarding his physical condition. The new winger for Celta Vigo assures that he is now fully operational. “I feel really good and I am completely fit. I am available and ready to play,” declared the Moroccan international. After a minor injury that kept him off the field for about two weeks, he is now training normally with the group. “If it were up to me, I would be a starter in the next match,” he added.

Driouech also addressed his aborted transfer to Rangers. Contrary to reports suggesting an inconclusive medical examination, the player claims he did not undergo the scheduled tests due to his injury. “I decided to go to Glasgow to experience the club’s environment and the stadium, but I did not take the medical exam because I had just gotten injured. That is why I did not sign there,” he explained.

The former PSV Eindhoven player then detailed the profile he wishes to bring to Celta. “I have played a lot on the left, but also on the right in my previous club. I feel more comfortable on the left side; I think that is my best position,” he specified. Driouech presents himself as a goal-oriented attacker: “I am a really dangerous player. One-on-one situations are one of my strengths. I like to attack spaces and receive the ball behind the defense.” At 24, he now hopes to find the continuity that was lacking at PSV. “I still need to improve, but I believe I can establish myself here and play more regularly.”

Enchanted by his new environment, the Moroccan finally praised the welcome from the group. “I really like the stadium and the facilities. The locker room is like a family, there are very great players, and it is a pleasure to play with them,” he confided. After the match against Athletic Club, Driouech is now calling on Celta to look forward: “We need to build on the good feelings and replicate them in the upcoming matches.”
