Couhaib Driouech is seriously approaching a departure from PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch club and Celta Vigo have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of the Moroccan winger. According to information from Mounir Boualin, the operation is expected to be around eight million euros.
Contract discussions have also progressed well. The 24-year-old player has given his preliminary agreement to sign for four seasons, until June 2030. A few formalities remain to be settled before the final signature. If these are finalized quickly, Driouech will travel to Spain for his medical examination, provisionally scheduled for this Tuesday, August 25.
Due to the progress of negotiations, the former Excelsior Rotterdam player was not included in the PSV squad during their victory against FC Groningen (5-1). His absence was directly related to the agreement reached between the two clubs and the prospect of his departure to La Liga.
Before getting close to Celta Vigo, Driouech was very close to joining the Rangers. An agreement had been reached between PSV and the Scottish club, while the striker had traveled there to finalize his transfer. However, the operation failed after the medical examination, with the Rangers’ staff believing that his thigh injury required several more weeks of recovery. This assessment was strongly contested by PSV, which considered the injury to be minor and assured that the player was already in the final phase of his rehabilitation.
Quickly back in training in Eindhoven, Couhaib Driouech could ultimately discover the Spanish league. Under contract with PSV until June 2029, the Moroccan winger has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 61 appearances for the first team. His transfer to Celta Vigo could now be officially confirmed once the final documents are signed and the medical examination is validated.
