Achraf Hakimi won the African Ballon d’Or 2025 at the ceremony held in Rabat. This victory is a logical outcome following an exceptional season with Paris Saint-Germain.
Twenty-seven years after Mustapha Hadji, the last Moroccan to win the award in 1998, the right-back brings this major distinction back to the country. Shining throughout the year, Hakimi had one of the best seasons in history for an African defender: Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophée des Champions… he won it all with PSG.
Decisive in key matches, he finished the season with 11 goals and 17 assists in 55 matches, extraordinary statistics for a player in his position. His performances even earned him a spot in the top 10 of the global Ballon d’Or.
“Now that I have the chance to win it, it has become a dream,” he recently confided. A dream come true in front of his fans in Rabat, where he joins the ranks of African legends such as Eto’o, Drogba, Mané, Salah, and Yaya Touré.
