Azzedine Ounahi is moving closer to a return to Panathinaikos. According to Foot Mercato, Girona and the Greek club have reached a verbal agreement for a loan with a purchase obligation set at 25 million euros. This operation would then pave the way for a four-year contract for the Moroccan international.
Having already been loaned to Panathinaikos during the 2024-2025 season, Ounahi would thus return to an environment he knows well. To get ahead of Ajax Amsterdam and convince the Atlas Lion, the Athenian leaders reportedly offered him the highest salary in their squad.
Panathinaikos is now looking to quickly finalize the last administrative formalities. The club hopes to register the midfielder on its European list before the deadline set by UEFA on Wednesday evening.
After Ajax’s withdrawal and several days of uncertainty, this case is therefore making decisive progress. However, the operation still needs to be finalized and officially confirmed by both clubs before Ounahi’s return to Athens can be considered definitive.
