Maroan Sannadi made an encouraging return in the colors of Athletic Club. The Moroccan international forward participated on Wednesday in his team’s victory against Racing Santander (3-0) in a friendly match held in Laredo.
Substituted in the 60th minute for Gorka Guruzeta, Sannadi quickly made himself available on the front line. The Lion of the Atlas notably contributed to the Basque team’s second goal, scored by Oihan Sancet in the 78th minute.
After a burst of speed down the right flank, the Moroccan striker eliminated his opponent before sending a low ball into the box. It was slightly deflected by Nico Serrano before reaching Sancet, who finished the play. This significant contribution may not officially count as an assist, but it confirms Sannadi’s impact upon his return.
Athletic opened the scoring as early as the 9th minute through Gorka Guruzeta. Johaneko Louis-Jean then scored the third goal in the 82nd minute, allowing the Bilbao club to secure a convincing victory in their fifth preseason match.
This return is good news for Sannadi, who had recently been hampered by pain in his left knee during training. After missing several sessions and friendly matches, the Moroccan was able to play around thirty minutes and gradually regain his form.
As the start of La Liga approaches, Sannadi will now aim to continue making appearances to convince Edin Terzić to grant him an important role in the offensive rotation. His strength, ability to attack spaces, and activity in the box remain valuable assets for Athletic Club.
