Anass Salah-Eddine is set to continue his career in Greece. The Moroccan left-back will leave AS Roma to join Panathinaikos, with the parties having reached an agreement for his transfer in the form of a loan with an option to buy.
The situation has rapidly accelerated in recent hours. A verbal agreement has been reached between Roma, Panathinaikos, and the player, who has given his approval to join the Athens club. Salah-Eddine must now undergo his medical examination before finalizing his arrival. Greek media are reporting that he is expected to arrive in Athens this Saturday.
The operation is expected to take the form of a loan with a purchase option valued at 7 million euros, which could be supplemented by an additional 1 million euros in bonuses. The latest information from Greece specifies that this option would not be automatic, leaving Panathinaikos the choice at the end of the season whether to permanently retain the Moroccan international.
At 24 years old, Salah-Eddine will discover a new league after his experiences in the Netherlands and Italy. He returned to Roma this summer after his loan at PSV Eindhoven, but the Moroccan defender did not seem to fit into the plans of the Roman club for this season. With PSV, he played 25 matches in all competitions during the 2025-2026 season and contributed to their title as champions of the Netherlands.
His arrival at Panathinaikos could also allow him to reunite with several familiar faces in a club that has significantly strengthened its Moroccan contingent in recent months. Unless there is a setback during the medical examination, the official announcement should come very soon.
