The future of Zakaria El Ouahdi could be written far from KRC Genk. The Moroccan international full-back is among the profiles being monitored by AC Milan, which is exploring several options to strengthen its right flank ahead of the new season.
According to information from Gianluca Di Marzio, the Milan management is interested in the Atlas Lion in the context of the possible departure of Zachary Athekame. The 21-year-old Swiss defender is reported to be close to Olympique Lyonnais in a one-season loan deal without a purchase option, a move that would prompt the Rossoneri to seek a successor.
Among the solutions being considered is El Ouahdi. KRC Genk is reportedly asking for between 13 and 15 million euros to let their right-back go. At this stage, however, Milan’s interest has not yet resulted in an agreement, and no official offer has been announced.
At 24 years old, the Moroccan international has established himself as one of the key players at Genk. Very active on his flank, he is capable of playing as a full-back or wing-back and stands out particularly for his ability to support offensive actions. His performances in Belgium and on the European stage have increased his visibility among several clubs across the continent.
Having won a bronze medal with Morocco at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games before gradually establishing himself with the Atlas Lions, Zakaria El Ouahdi could now take a new step in his career. The interest from AC Milan remains at an exploratory stage for now, but the situation could evolve depending on Athekame’s status and the choices made by the Lombard management.
