Abde Ezzalzouli will not participate in Real Betis’ trip to Lille this Tuesday evening for the first day of the Champions League group stage. After a viral episode that caused him to miss the victory against Real Madrid (1-0), Manuel Pellegrini clarified that the Moroccan international has not yet fully recovered from his knee injury.
“He is not 100% recovered. It is a complex knee injury, as it causes a lot of discomfort,” the Chilean coach explained at a press conference. Pellegrini hopes, however, that his winger will regain his full physical condition in the coming days.
Abde injured the medial collateral ligament of his right knee during a friendly match between Morocco and Norway, played shortly before the 2026 World Cup. Forced to withdraw from the competition, the Betis player recently returned to the field, playing a few minutes against Levante, but his knee continues to trouble him.
Pellegrini’s statements do not indicate a relapse or worsening of the injury. However, they confirm that the recovery of the Atlas Lion is not yet fully completed. No specific date has been provided regarding his return to competition.
