Zakaria El Ouahdi is seriously moving closer to Hamburger SV. The Moroccan international is expected in Hamburg this Sunday to undergo his medical examination. The permanent transfer of the 24-year-old full-back is expected to bring around 10 million euros to KRC Genk.
An important advancement has reportedly been made in recent hours. According to the Hamburger Abendblatt, Genk has given the green light for the Moroccan’s departure, who is set to sign a five-season contract with HSV. El Ouahdi had already reached an agreement with the German club regarding his personal terms. However, BILD specifies that some details remain to be resolved and that no definitive documents have yet been signed between the two clubs.
On Friday, El Ouahdi likely played his last match in Genk colors during the victory against Beveren (4-0). The Moroccan notably earned the penalty that allowed Rafiu Durosinmi to open the scoring. After the final whistle, he warmly greeted the supporters before leaving the pitch in tears.
Under contract with the Belgian club until June 2028, El Ouahdi has had a particularly productive season, scoring 12 goals in 45 matches across all competitions. If the final obstacles are cleared and his medical visit is successful, he will soon discover the Bundesliga wearing Hamburg’s colors.
