Ahmed Kantari takes charge of the Moroccan national under-17 team. The former defender of the Atlas Lions succeeds Portuguese coach Tiago Lima Pereira on the bench of the Lionceaux.
At 41 years old, the Moroccan coach returns to the national team in a new role. After representing Morocco during his playing career, he will now be tasked with supporting the development of young talents and preparing for the upcoming continental and international competitions for this category.
Kantari already has significant experience in French coaching. He notably managed Valenciennes before joining the technical staff of FC Nantes, where he later took charge of the first team. He also worked as an assistant coach at Nottingham Forest alongside Sabri Lamouchi.
This appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Moroccan U17s. Ahmed Kantari will need to continue the development of a generation expected to feed the senior national teams of the Kingdom in the coming years.
