Ouahbi hopes to continue on this momentum.
The coach of the Morocco U20 team, Mohamed Ouahbi, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his players, who emerged victorious against the Ivory Coast U23 team in the Toulon Tournament.
“We played against a very strong team. They were much stronger, much older than us, so we had to fight to win this match. What is important is that the players knew that they had to do better than against Japan.”
Ouahbi praised the development of his players compared to the first match and hopes to continue on this momentum against Panama.
“In the first match, perhaps we lacked those little extra efforts, but today, we did what was necessary. We suffered a lot despite our strong first 30 minutes. We managed to play the ball out well and were good in transitions. We were able to shift the play and quickly switch sides to try to exploit the weak areas. But when they started playing more direct, we began to have difficulties, so we had to retreat a bit.
Now that we have won, we are focused on qualification. We will once again be playing against a team that will be much older than us. Panama has a very athletic team, but we are here to win the tournament, so we need to take each match as it comes and win them regardless of the opponent.”
