Morocco makes history! On the final day of Group B at the FIFA U17 World Cup, the Atlas Lions inflicted a stunning defeat on New Caledonia (16-0), setting the record for the largest victory ever recorded in this competition. This monumental performance will be etched in the annals of world football.

    A One-Sided Match

After being challenged in their first two outings against Japan (0-2) and Portugal (0-6), the Lions needed a resounding victory to hope for qualification among the best third-placed teams. Mission more than accomplished.

From the very first minutes, Nabil Baha’s protégés displayed unwavering determination and a desire to redeem themselves. The result: an avalanche of goals and an offensive festival rarely seen at this level. With sixteen goals, Morocco surpasses the previous tournament record (13-0 set by Spain against New Zealand in 1997).

The Moroccans also managed to handle the two expulsions from New Caledonia, Glenn Dreuko (22nd minute) and Xele Canehmez (31st minute), both justified.

    A Collective Victory

This golden generation confirmed its full potential: ten different players found the back of the net.

    Moroccan scorers:

Bilal Soukrat (3’), Oualid Ibn Salah (11’, 17’), Abdelali Eddaoudi (41’, 42’), Ilyas Hidaoui (44’), Ziyad Baha (45+2’, 70’), Zakari El Khalfioui (48’), Nahel Haddani (56’, 82’), Abdellah Ouazane (71’, 90+2’), Ismail El Aoud (80’, 90’), as well as an own goal (76’).

Faced with an overwhelmed Caledonian team, the Lions expressed their determination and unity, symbolizing a cohesive collective eager to honor the national jersey.

    Qualification Hopes

Thanks to this resounding success, Morocco finishes third in Group B with three points, but a positive goal difference (+8) that could prove decisive.

The U17 World Cup regulations allow the eight best third-placed teams to qualify for the round of 32.. The Lions now have every reason to believe, while awaiting the results from other groups.

    A Lesson in Humility

Despite the magnitude of the score, the Lions showed great respect for their opponents, celebrating each goal with restraint. This gesture was praised by observers, symbolizing maturity and fair play.
