Linked with a move to PSV Eindhoven, Souffian El Karouani will remain at FC Utrecht until the end of the season. His coach, Ron Jans, put an end to the speculation by confirming that the 23-year-old Moroccan left-back will not leave the club this winter, despite interest from several teams.
PSV, looking for a replacement for Matteo Dams, had considered signing El Karouani, but Utrecht quickly shut the door. “We are having an excellent season, we are third in the league, and there is no question of letting such an important player leave just days before the transfer window closes,” said Ron Jans. El Karouani, whose market value is estimated at around €5 million by Transfermarkt, has been one of the key players for his team this season. In 21 Eredivisie matches, he scored one goal and provided six assists, showing significant offensive influence for a defender.
While his name could resurface in the upcoming summer transfer window, El Karouani is currently focused on his goals with Utrecht. “This kind of interest is a nice recognition for him,” Jans added, stating that the player’s situation will be reassessed at the end of the season.
