Sofyan Amrabat will wear the number 4 for Ajax Amsterdam. The Dutch club confirmed this choice after officially announcing the arrival of the Moroccan international, who is contracted until June 30, 2028, following the termination of his contract with Fenerbahçe.
The defensive midfielder is returning to a number he knows well. Amrabat notably wore the number 4 during his time at Manchester United in the 2023-2024 season. He played 30 matches across all competitions and won the FA Cup with the Red Devils.
The 30-year-old player has also expressed his eagerness to make his debut with his new team. “I am fit and I really want to play,” he stated, while acknowledging that he has not played a match recently. However, the Moroccan assures that he has continued to train and feels ready to meet his coach’s expectations.
Back in the Netherlands after his stints at FC Utrecht and Feyenoord, Sofyan Amrabat is opening a new chapter in his career. With the number 4 on his back, the Lion of the Atlas will aim to quickly establish himself in Ajax’s midfield.
