Shaqueel van Persie makes the difference against Atalanta

Shaqueel van Persie delivered a standout performance on Sunday, securing victory for Feyenoord against Atalanta (2-1) in the final preseason match for the Dutch club before the start of the season. Coming on in the 74th minute, the 19-year-old forward found the back of the net seven minutes later, heading in a ball in the box and scoring the decisive goal in the 81st minute.

The match had initially started well for Feyenoord, who took the lead with a penalty from Ayase Ueda in the 11th minute. Nikola Krstović then equalized for both teams just before halftime, before Shaqueel van Persie turned the match in favor of his side with his clinical finishing in front of goal.

In just over a quarter of an hour on the pitch, Robin van Persie’s son seized his opportunity. Scoring the winning goal with his only shot on target, he was also active in the offensive play, being involved in several dangerous situations created by Feyenoord after his introduction. This convincing performance confirms his return to form after long months out due to a knee injury.

Eligible to represent Morocco through his maternal heritage, Shaqueel van Persie continues to attract the attention of scouts. His effectiveness during this summer preparation and his immediate impact against an opponent of Atalanta’s caliber confirm that he is among the young talents to watch closely for the 2026-2027 season.
