Saibari: “The style of Bayern suits me”

Ismael Saibari displayed his ambitions during his official presentation with Bayern Munich on Friday, August 14. Accompanied by Max Eberl in front of the media, the Moroccan international discussed his integration, physical condition, and the reasons for his choice to join the German champions. Now recovered from the muscle injury sustained during the World Cup, he confirmed that he has returned to team training. “I have recovered well and I am now fully training with the team,” he assured.

Quickly embraced by his new teammates, Saibari believes that the Bavarian project perfectly matches his qualities. “Since Vincent Kompany’s arrival, Bayern plays with more movement and great intensity. The team is constantly looking to create chances, and I really like that,” explained the former PSV player. The Moroccan also highlighted the confidence shown by the club’s management: “Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Its style of play suits me, and the club has shown me that I can still progress here as a player and as a person.”

When asked about his preferred role, the 25-year-old player did not hide his preference for a central position. “My favorite position is that of a number 10, everyone knows that. But I can play in different positions, on the wing or a bit deeper,” he specified. However, Saibari has not yet discussed his role in detail with Kompany, as his priority has been to complete his rehabilitation. His participation in the Telekom Cup against Leipzig on Saturday is still to be confirmed after a final exchange with the medical staff.

Max Eberl, for his part, was particularly complimentary about the new Bayern recruit. The executive explained that the Moroccan’s performance against Bayern while at PSV had strengthened the club’s conviction. “With his power, presence, speed, and versatility, he posed us several problems. He has something special,” he stated. Saibari, who will wear the number 34, also spoke about the sacrifices made by his parents after his foot problems at birth: “They sacrificed a lot for me to be able to walk properly and lead a normal life. I will always be grateful to them.”
