Ryan Mmaee’s loan spell at SK Rapid ends prematurely

Ryan Mmaee’s loan at SK Rapid has come to an early end after a series of injuries hampered the Moroccan forward’s progress at the Austrian club. Having joined last September from Stoke City, the 27-year-old unfortunately struggled with recurring physical setbacks.

From his very first training session with SK Rapid, Mmaee suffered an injury that forced him to stop. A few weeks later, another injury further delayed his progress. When he finally returned to the pitch during a friendly match against Levadia Tallinn in winter, he was forced to leave the game prematurely due to new muscular issues.

With international experience, having represented Belgium at various youth levels and earned 12 senior caps for Morocco, Mmaee was unable to meet expectations during his time in Vienna. Nevertheless, SK Rapid and Stoke City have reached an agreement to terminate his loan deal with immediate effect.

Markus Katzer, SK Rapid’s sporting director, expressed his disappointment: “I am convinced that Ryan Mmaee would have been a valuable asset to our team, as he possesses great qualities. It is truly unfortunate that he was affected by successive injuries. I wish him a speedy recovery and much success in his future career.”
