The Renaissance Sportive de Berkane has perfectly launched its campaign in the African Champions League by decisively defeating Zambia’s Power Dynamos on Saturday. At the Berkane Sports Complex, Mouine Chaâbani’s men secured a clear 3-0 victory in this first match of Group A.
The opening goal came in the 14th minute when defender Aaron Katebel inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net, giving the Oranges the lead. Two minutes later, Berkane doubled their advantage thanks to Mounir Chouiar, who was perfectly served and clinical in the box.
In the second half, the Berkanis continued to dominate the proceedings before sealing the result definitively. Valere Paul Bassène, who came on with confidence, converted a penalty in the 65th minute, confirming the superiority of the Moroccan club in this first continental encounter.
With this convincing victory, RS Berkane temporarily takes the lead in a competitive Group A, which also includes the defending champion, Pyramids FC (Egypt), and Nigeria’s Rivers United. A successful start that places the Oranges in an ideal dynamic ahead of the upcoming African challenges.
