Regragui praises Saibari: “He would have thrived at PSG or Barça”

Walid Regragui has been particularly complimentary about Ismael Saibari. In an interview with L’Équipe, the former coach of the Atlas Lions emphasized the Moroccan international’s game intelligence and versatility.

Regragui explained that he particularly enjoyed highlighting Saibari’s movements, pressing, and teamwork during video sessions. He describes the Moroccan midfielder as a player with a “high football IQ,” capable of always finding the right spaces.

“Saibari would have thrived at Paris SG or Barça,” Regragui believes, convinced that his qualities perfectly match teams that prioritize positional play and ball control.

The former coach also appreciates his versatility. Used as a number 8, Saibari could also play on the right side, where Achraf Hakimi’s overlaps allowed him to cut inside “like a number 10.” Regragui also highlights his ability to play on the left and describes him as a “patient and clinical” player.
