Soufiane and Houssine Rahimi were the key players in Al Ain’s spectacular victory on the pitch of Baniyas (4-2) this Sunday, during the first day of the Emirati championship. The two Moroccans scored three of their team’s four goals, despite being two goals down in the first half.
Baniyas had taken a serious lead thanks to a brace from Youssoufou Niakaté, who scored in the 19th and 42nd minutes. However, Soufiane Rahimi reignited Al Ain just before halftime by converting a penalty in the 45th+2 minute. A week after his goal against Osasuna in preparation, the Moroccan international thus confirms his strong start to the season.
Houssine Rahimi then took over. After having a first goal disallowed by VAR in the 63rd minute, the former Raja striker equalized in the 83rd minute by converting a cross from the right side. He then scored a second goal in stoppage time, in the 90th+7 minute, to give Al Ain the lead. Kaku sealed the victory four minutes later.
With one goal from Soufiane and a brace from Houssine, the Rahimi family played a major role in this comeback. Al Ain thus begins the defense of its title with a victory and secures its first three points in a match full of twists and turns.
