PSG easily won the first leg of the Champions League playoffs against Stade Brestois (3-0). Thanks to a brace from Dembélé, Paris dominated the Breton side, which still managed to hit the woodwork three times. This victory puts the Parisians in a comfortable position ahead of the second leg in the Round of 16.
Achraf Hakimi, who started the match, delivered a solid performance, though he nearly scored an own goal in the 39th minute when he hit Donnarumma’s right post. However, the incident had no consequences, and just a few minutes later, Dembélé scored a stunning goal to make it 2-0 in the 45th minute. The play, initiated by Hakimi on the right flank, allowed him to set up Dembélé, who took advantage of his teammate’s movement to reposition himself and strike powerfully with his left foot. Brest’s goalkeeper, Bizot, had no chance.
Hakimi reached a major milestone in this match by playing his 56th Champions League game, making him the most-capped Maghreb player in the competition’s history, surpassing Riyad Mahrez. With his contract extended until 2029 with PSG, this number could continue to rise.
