Precious victory for Safi against Djoliba in CAF Cup

The Olympique Safi (OCS) started its group stage campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup in the best possible way, winning narrowly (0-1) against Djoliba AC in Bamako.

The perilous trip of the Moroccan Sharks to Malian soil for the first matchday of Group A turned into a valuable success. The breakthrough came in the 29th minute of play thanks to a goal from striker Salaheddine Errahouli, assisted by Sofian El Moudane, giving the Safi team an advantage they would not relinquish.

With the lead secured, OCS adopted a defensive and cautious strategy in the second half, aiming to manage their advantage and exploit quick counterattacks. While Djoliba intensified the pressure to equalize, creating several dangerous opportunities, the Safi defense remained solid. Goalkeeper Hamza El Hamiaini was particularly decisive, making several outstanding saves to keep his net intact and directly contribute to his team’s victory. Luck was also on the side of the Mesfioui with a dangerous Malian ball, fortunately deflected by the crossbar.

However, the OCS players did not settle for just defending. They also created several chances but failed to double their lead. Moreover, the end of the match was tense and marked by the expulsion of Safi’s assistant coach, Adil Serraj, following protests.
