Crystal Palace officially announced on Monday the arrival of Taha Majni from Union Touarga. At 18 years old, the Moroccan defender will join the U21 team led by Darren Powell. The London club emphasizes that he becomes the first player to move directly from the Botola Pro to a Premier League team.
Capable of playing both as a center-back and a right-back, Majni made his professional debut in June 2025. He has already made 17 appearances with the first team of Union Touarga, including 15 last season and 13 as a starter.
The young defender was also part of the Moroccan squad that won the U20 World Cup in Chile. Since then, he has continued his development with the Morocco U23 team, where he has two caps, including one start against Ivory Coast last March.
“Crystal Palace is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and the world. The club has achieved a lot in recent years, so I am very happy to start this new adventure,” Majni said. The academy director, Gary Issott, praised him as “a talented and versatile defender,” believing that Palace represents “the ideal environment for his development.”
