Diop and Cho provided assists in Nice’s victory over Reims

In Matchday 17 of Ligue 1, OGC Nice secured a crucial 4-2 victory at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II against Reims. With this win, the Aiglons climb to 4th place in the standings, maintaining their excellent momentum.

Moroccan midfielder Sofiane Diop was a standout performer in this game. In the 31st minute, he was at the heart of a dangerous opportunity following a through ball from Bouanani. Despite being slightly slowed down, the pass reached Diop, who attempted an audacious lob, narrowly saved by goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf. It was an action that could have resulted in a moment of brilliance. However, Diop truly made his mark in the 64th minute with a superb assist to Gaëtan Laborde — his third assist of the Ligue 1 season. Laborde, one-on-one with the Reims goalkeeper, slotted in Nice’s third goal with a low, precise strike. Versatile and hard-working, Diop stood out both offensively and defensively, proving to be a key asset for his team.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Ali Cho, who came on in the 73rd minute, provided an assist too. Launched by Diop on the right wing, Cho delivered a caviar for the Tunisian Ali El Abdi (86′) who netted Nice’s 4th goal. Cho also nearly scored his third goal of the season in stoppage time. Unfortunately, his effort in the 90+3 minute was ruled offside. Despite this, his presence kept the pressure on the Reims defense until the final whistle.

This emphatic victory underscores Nice’s growing strength and the exceptional form of their Moroccan talents, particularly Sofiane Diop, who delivered an outstanding performance.
