The Moroccan U23 national team was held to a draw by their Malian counterparts (1-1) on Thursday, October 1, at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, during a friendly preparation match.
The Malians opened the scoring in the 28th minute through Aboubacar Diakité, taking advantage of an error by Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Benchaouch. However, the Lionceaux quickly responded and equalized thanks to Amir Bouhamidi, who scored in the 37th minute. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
The match was relatively balanced in terms of statistics, with 50% possession for each team. Morocco attempted eight shots, six of which were on target, compared to nine attempts and four shots on target from the Malians.
This match is part of the preparation program for the Moroccan U23s, led by Jamel Aït Ben Idir. The Lionceaux will continue their gathering with another friendly match against Tanzania on Monday, October 5, in Tangier, ahead of the upcoming qualifying matches for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations.
