Mazraoui takes the upper hand over Issa Diop

The Moroccan duel between Noussair Mazraoui and Issa Diop turned in favor of the Manchester United player. The Red Devils won 5-2 against Ipswich Town on Sunday at Old Trafford during the second round of the Premier League. Diop played the entire match, while Mazraoui came on in the 73rd minute to replace Luke Shaw.

Ipswich had initially taken the lead with a goal from Leif Davis in the 29th minute, before Bruno Fernandes equalized in the 40th. Manchester United then made the difference after the break thanks to an own goal from Jacob Greaves (56th), followed by two more goals from Fernandes (61st from a penalty and 68th). Bryan Mbeumo scored the fifth goal for Manchester in the 82nd minute, before Chuba Akpom reduced the deficit in stoppage time.

Starting in the center of Ipswich’s defense, Issa Diop faced a challenging second half against the offensive dominance of the Mancunians. Meanwhile, Mazraoui appeared as his team was already leading 4-1 and contributed to managing the end of the match.

Manchester United thus secures its first victory of the season after losing to Hull City (0-2). Ipswich, for its part, suffers its first defeat after having dominated Sunderland (2-1) in the opening round.
