Issa Diop has perfectly launched his official adventure with Ipswich Town. Starting this Saturday against Sunderland on the opening day of the Premier League, the Moroccan international defender contributed to the victory of the Tractor Boys in front of their home crowd (2-1).
Aligned in the center alongside Jacob Greaves, the Lion of the Atlas played the entire match. He was one of the seven summer recruits chosen by Gary O’Neil to support Ipswich’s return to the English top flight.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Emersonn, before Nilson Angulo equalized with a free kick in the 39th. Ipswich ultimately secured the three points thanks to Jack Clarke, who scored the decisive goal in the 90th minute against his former club.
Arriving this summer from Fulham, Diop thus begins his time at Ipswich with a starting position and a victory. The match was also marked by the entry of Chemsdine Talbi in the 59th minute for Sunderland, offering a first duel between two Lions of the Atlas for this new season of the Premier League.
