Good news for Villarreal and Moroccan supporters: in a video shared on the club’s official social media (villarealfc.es), Ilias Akhomach is seen back at team training after several months of absence. Welcomed warmly by his teammates in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, he participated in all the exercises, smiling and showing no signs of discomfort.
In November 2024, Akhomach had suffered a serious injury during a match against Deportivo Alavés (3-0 victory). He had opened the scoring in the 38th minute before being stretchered off. Medical tests revealed a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament, as well as a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. The player then underwent surgery followed by a lengthy rehabilitation process.

Today, Akhomach has turned the page. Villarreal is expected to manage his return cautiously until the end of the season, but his presence at training confirms that he is once again fit. This return is an important asset for the club, but also for the Moroccan national team, which may soon be able to count on him again.
